Digital Image Reserves

Digital Image Reserves are available to UCSD faculty through the ARTstor Digital Library. Faculty can create image groups in ARTstor devoted to sets of study images, whether for a specific class or exam. Images not available through ARTstor may be requested by submitting a production request to the Art and Architecture Library Visual Resources staff. Faculty owned images can be added to an ARTstor image group through the faculty's Personal Collection. ARTstor is available to faculty and students 24/7, on or off campus, via the campus proxy server. To access reserve images in ARTstor students must first register with ARTstor. The reserves feature in ARTstor is offered to faculty in several different modes. Create a Shared Folder in ARTstor (recommended). Using ARTstor's shared folder feature students can access study images through the faculty shared folder. To help students access their reserve folders faculty may annotate and hand out the Student Guide to Accessing Image Reserves in ARTstor to their classes. Faculty have the ability to save and modify their reserve image groups for future classes through their ARTstor accounts. Using the reserves shared folder students have the ability to enlarge study images, access identifying information and generate a print preview complete with instructor comments. Alternative methods to share reserve images through ARTstor: Obtain a stable URL for a reserve image group and post this link on a course web site. Save a copy of a reserve image group as an HTML file and mount on a course web site. Save an Offline Image Viewer (OIV) presentation as a .prs file and post on a course web site for students to download and study. NOTE: Students must download and install the OIV (PCs / Macs) to view the reserve images.
